The Mission of the Nobel Women's Initiative is to work together as women Nobel Peace Prize Laureates to use the visibility and prestige of the Nobel prize to promote, spotlight, and amplify the work of women's rights activists, researchers, and organizations worldwide addressing the root causes of violence, in a way that strengthens and expands the global movement to advance nonviolence, peace, justice and equality.

We accomplish our mission through three main strategies:

    1. Convening and connecting
  • We use the prestige of the Nobel Prize to convene and connect key decision makers with women's rights activists to potently move forward work on critical issues impacting women.

    2. Shaping and defining the conversation

  • We demystify the analysis of conflict and violence, so that everyone can participate in the conversation and we as citizens can collectively make a difference.  We create and influence democratic spaces where these conversations can flourish.
  • We define and promote an integrated, interwoven perspective on violence and peace

    3. Spotlighting and promoting

  • We create media visibility for people, organizations, and issues at pivotal moments, when international attention can have the greatest impact.
  • We educate the public and raise awareness of situations out of the spotlight
  • We lead delegations to regions of conflict and crisis to meet with women on the ground, to witness the powerful ways women are transforming peace and conflict
  • We issue statements regarding conflict, crisis and peacebuilding in order to create expanded support and visibility
