Zelagh Beadell is an international arbitrator and global ambassador for numerous peacekeeping initiatives. She has deep roots in spirituality and a broad vision of service to humanity. For the past two decades, Zelagh has been committed to bringing a positive social transformation with a focus on equity in education, environment stewardship, and health for women and children. She has joined delegations as a meditation teacher for many countries, including India, Nepal, Belgium and Turkey. Building on this work, she created a “kinesthetic curriculum” for the Los Angeles Unified School District that highlighted the cognitive benefits of social and emotional education, problem solving and enhanced mindfulness.
As a mother and a philanthropist, Zelagh is passionate about the fundamental importance of maternal health and is committed to ending the adverse effects of generational maternal poverty. To support this work, she established The Hazel Jansen Foundation, a nonprofit based on Kauai, Hawaii, where Zelagh currently lives. The foundation provides trauma-informed resources, baby care essentials, breastfeeding education and support, and scholarships for mothers with economic barriers, including mothers Indigenous to the Hawaiian Islands.
