The Nobel Women’s Initiative and Ecology Ottawa invite you to attend a night of discussion on Tar Sands, Pipelines in Your Backyard and the Clean Energy Revolution: A conversation with Nobel Peace Laureate Jody Williams.
Join Jody Williams, Greenpeace Canada’s Executive Director Joanna Kerr, and President-CEO of the Canadian Council for International Cooperation Julia Sanchez at Ottawa’s Mayfair Theatre at 7:00pm on Monday, Oct. 28. The panel discussion will be looking at the threat of tar sands and climate change globally, what action we can take around pipelines locally, and the promise of clean energy as a way forward everywhere.
In October 2012, the Nobel Women’s Initiative with Jody Williams, led the Breaking Ground delegation to visit the tar sands in Alberta and along the route of the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline in British Columbia. We met with women within communities that are directly impacted by the growing oil sands industry in Canada. Stay tuned to October 28 – as we bring you voices of women leaders engaged in climate action from across Canada.
If you can’t join us in person, tune in online for a live-tweet of the discussion! Join us on Twitter at @NobelWomen and hashtag #breakingground from 7:00-8:30pm EST / 4:00-5:30pm PST.
