Meet seven remarkable women defenders
On each day of #FeministResponders week we will introduce you to a new women human rights defender based in the Middle East, working for peace amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. As the world focuses on the pandemic, women human rights defenders continue to be beaten, arbitrarily detained, prosecuted, imprisoned or killed—all in an attempt to silence voices calling for peace, human rights and an end to gender discrimination. We must support these #FeministResponders.
In addition, outgoing UN Special Representative for Human Rights Defenders Michel Forst, will be live on our Facebook at @NobelWomen on Monday, May 4 (11:00 am ET) to discuss the situation and unique needs of Women Human Rights Defenders.
LIVE: When Feminists Rule the World
Women and girls are both disproportionately impacted AND making moves for a better world in this global health crisis. Join When Feminists Rule the World for a very special Facebook live episode to talk feminist response with legendary Egyptian women human rights defender, Mozn Hassan, ground-breaking Mexican-American journalist, Maria Hinojosa, and hosted by the incomparable comedian, Martha Chaves.
In our feminist future of global collaboration and human security, you can be sure that there will be no more pandemics.
