Nobel Women’s Initiative and JASS (Just Associates) are thrilled to announce the launch of Women Crossing the Line, a new three-part mini-documentary series that spotlights the work of women human rights defenders in Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala!
Women Crossing the Line opens a window onto the profound impact women human rights defenders have in their communities. Each chapter—Defensoras in Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala; Breaking the Silence on Violence Against Women in Honduras; and Defending Mother Earth—spotlights women in the region who, despite incredible risk, raise their voices to defend their land, seek justice and promote peace.
In 2012 a Nobel Women’s Initiative delegation—led by Nobel peace laureates Jody Williams and Rigoberta Menchú Tum—traveled to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala to meet with defensoras speaking out to promote peace and women’s rights in their communities. Since then, the level of violence against women in the region has reached crisis dimensions. Women Crossing the Line brings us the voices of these women, and their incredible stories of strength and resilience.
