United Nations: Abolish nuclear weapons!

Call on the United Nations to ban nuclear weapons in war! Nuclear weapons pose an ongoing threat to international peace and security. They are the only weapons of mass destruction that the United Nations has not yet legally prohibited. They are cited by the International Campaign Against Nuclear Weapons to cause catastrophic damage to public health and environment, as well as other severe social repercussions.
The United Nations will resume negotiations on 15 June in New York on a treaty to ban nuclear weapons, and to eventually eliminate them. They aim to complete negotiations by 7 July, 2017. A formal ban on nuclear weapons would discourage states from building and maintaining their nuclear arsenals.
