Nancy Word

Nancy Word retired from a successful 33-year career in information technology as a vice president at Computer Sciences Corporation. Since then, she has been a part of the founding team of Impact Austin, a women’s collective-giving organization that has provided more than $7.5 million to the local community. Nancy previously served on the board of The Container Store and was a Trustee of Centenary College in Louisiana. She is our longest supporter, beginning in 2010, and her support is in partnership with her daughter, Emily Bush. Nancy was Co-Chair of the Philanthropy Circle in 2020. She spent 26 years as a Navy wife while her husband, Brown, served as a Navy pilot. They also have a son and four grandchildren. She is currently focused on philanthropy in Austin as well as globally with contacts she has made through the Nobel Women’s Initiative.
