Outcome 1: Women Leading Peace Together
Strengthening Sisterhood
The Sister-to-Sister (S2S) Young Feminist Leadership Program has been a cornerstone of NWI’s work for over a decade. In 2024, the program was brought fully in-house, embedding it more deeply within NWI’s overall strategy and relaunching a reassessed and strengthened, more efficient program which better meets the needs of participants. This shift strengthened sisterhood among participants, NWI and the alumni network. Moreover, it enabled NWI to respond more swiftly to the needs of young activists and connect the program with all areas of our work, including year-round advocacy and communications efforts.
Under the theme “Peace Needs Women,” the 2024 program provided leadership training, mentorship, and networking opportunities to a diverse cohort of 24 exceptional young activists from 18 countries.
From Sisterhood to Solidarity
Throughout the year, NWI engaged and supported Sister-to-Sister participants and alumni through a range of meaningful opportunities from virtual gatherings and advocacy actions, to invitations to relevant events, and collaborations with NWI. In 2024, alumni took part in the Munich Security conference, NWI delegation to Guatemala, an alumna of the program joined the NWI board, and numerous alumni contributed articles, advocacy inputs, and other efforts across NWI's work.
These activities are designed to keep alumni connected, inspired, and active within a global community of feminist leaders.
In order to deepen this engagement even further NWI developed the Sister-to-Sister Alumni Program, launched at the end of 2024, to offer continued learning, peer support, and leadership opportunities in an ongoing, structured way.
