Activist, grad student and former tailor, Louise McGowan, grew up in Belfast towards the end of the Troubles.
Living in Northern Ireland throughout the peace process inspired a keen interest in human rights, justice and equality that ultimately ended her career as a tailor. Sick of working for rich white men? So was Louise. She ultimately pivoted to support groups working with migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in London and Belfast—including Peace People, co-founded by Nobel peace laureate, Mairead Maguire!
