As women Nobel Peace Prize laureates, we stand for peace, justice, and nonviolence. We urge all parties—and the international community—to act now: stop the war and choose dialogue over destruction.
We echo the brave voices across the region saying: no to war.
Narges Mohammadi, Nobel Peace Prize laureate (2023), sends this message from inside Iran:
“War must not decide our future. I call for peace, for the people of Iran, the region, and the world.”
Civilians are paying the highest price - lives lost, homes destroyed, families displaced. In Iran, people face deepening economic hardship and mounting fear.
Shirin Ebadi, Nobel Peace Prize laureate (2003), joins civil society activists in demanding an immediate halt to the killing of civilians, a stop to uranium enrichment, an end to attacks on vital infrastructure in both Iran and Israel, and full respect for human rights, including non-interference in each country’s internal affairs.
In April 2024, Nobel Women’s Initiative led a delegation to Palestine and Jordan, witnessing the devastating impact of Israeli military aggression and illegal occupation—especially on women and children. This deepened our alarm at the escalation and strengthened our commitment to ending violence, injustice, and oppression in the region. We call for full respect for international law and accountability for all violations.
We remain deeply concerned for all civilians, including women human rights defenders and our sister laureate Narges Mohammadi. Their courage and leadership are vital.
Let us raise our voices, clearly and unequivocally, for an immediate end to this war, an end to all forms of violence, and a renewed commitment to peace, rights, and freedom.
Ceasefire now.
No to war.
