The Nobel Women’s Initiative has learned that the Egyptian and women’s rights defender Mozn Hassan, the Executive Director and Founder of Nazra for Feminist Studies, has been officially charged today, Wednesday 28 July 2021.
She has been summoned to appear tomorrow at 12.30pm Cairo time before the Investigation Judge for the third time.
The fact that Mozn has not been given time to prepare for her court appearance raises significant questions with regard to the motives of the justice system in Egypt.
Mozn has been enduring frequent and incessant harassment, including a ban on travel and the freezing of her personal assets.
