Nobel Women’s Initiative is celebrating a decade of supporting the women’s peace movement and amplifying women’s voices for peace, justice and equality! In September 2016 we held two events in Ottawa to commemorate 10 years of women-led action for peace.
We launched When We Are Bold: Women Who Turn Our Upsidedown World Right at the Ottawa International Writers Festival on September 27. When We Are Bold is a collection of 28 essays about women peacemakers by notable women authors, academics and activists. CBC Ottawa’s Lucy van Oldenbarneveld and Nobel Peace Laureate Jody Williams were joined by When We Are Bold authors Madeleine Thien, Aja Monet and Casey Camp-Horinek for readings and discussion. Following the launch of When We Are Bold we held a reception in Ottawa on September 28. Laureate Jody Williams, partners and supporters from the past decade and staff were on hand to raise a glass to our 10th anniversary. We were grateful to have such a fabulous family with whom to celebrate this anniversary! Click here to see photo highlights from the reception.
We also celebrated 10 years on social media, sharing one hundred photos from the past decade and spotlighting partners we’ve worked with along the way. Some of these photos are visible below, and come to life in our up-beat anniversary video.
