16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence 2009

Thousands of organizations and activists have taken part in the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, founded in 1991. The campaign's central messages - women's rights are human rights and violence against women constitutes a violation of human rights - have been the rallying call of the women's movement. Nobel Women's Initiative has participated in the campaign every year since 2006 by spotlighting women peacebuilders, activists and human rights defenders.
